The stone library in the Geological Museum – the key to maintaning the scientific heritage

Abstract

The National museum of natural history at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine plays the role of an open, public worldclass organization which represents the geological heritage in the modern information field. Today’s task is to create the stone library which have complete information support (industrial and scientific) and submitted up to date. The stone library in the museums should serve to the sphere of education, be simple and demonstrative. On the other hand, the museum is the first in a number of organizations involved in the preservation of the geological sites, for some of which the sampling is not possible and, consequently, should be created stone library based only on secondary information.
